It can smell fear

The take-home Fed Courts exam is getting emailed out today. Everyone who's taken this class knows that this thing will be an unholy nightmare. I'm not typically one for test anxiety, but knowing it's out there, on the internet--lurking--is a little horrifying. It's like being stalked by a predator you know is smarter than you.

What I'm trying to say is: Fed Courts is totally going to eat my liver.
Gross.

Federal courts has that reputation @ my school, too.
Do you think the hell is worth it for the (debatable) bar-prep value?

Definitely not for the bar prep value. We spend a lot of time mulling over unanswerable questions, and I am relying on Barbri to do most of my answering for me.

But: if you liked Civ Pro, liked Con Law, are a jurisdiction wonk, or just an ubernerd (hi), it might be worth it. Additionally, the grapevine tells me that judges like to see it on your transcripts if you want to clerk. If this is true, it certainly didn't stop them from laughing maniacally at my transcript, so take that with a grain of salt.

Our fed courts class has been described as "a long, slow, march to the sea." If you can hear this statement and feel a little twinge of anticipation, and the phrase "adequate and independent state grounds" doesn't make you go all twitchy, then you should be fine.

I can't think of much that sounds worse than this.

Also, "if you liked Civ Pro, liked Con Law" has to be the funniest thing I've ever heard. People actually like those things? I still have no idea what civ pro was about, and I think scotus has about as much legitimacy as a Kardashian in a period piece.

I think what I meant to say was "if you are a masochist."

I do dearly love my Fed Courts prof, but I wish someone had warned me that it was Civ Pro redux. Shudder.

Recently overheard in our review session: "Well, you all remember Erie from Civ Pro, so there's no reason to go on about that again..."
Three years later, I can tell you: 1. Railroad!
2. Not spelled like "creepy/scary." Even if it is.

ImNobody - I barely passed Civ Pro, and the only reason I did is thanks to BarBri's audio lecture.

I hate take-homes too. The one I had yesterday was awful beyond belief.

Oh god, my Federal Courts exam is Friday. I hope yours went well!
